The writer chose this topic and the Zootopia film as the main sources to analyze because the writer saw something interesting and could be both knowledge and new learning through this film. The film is written and directed by Byron Howard. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse: (1) the cause of Nick’s experience of trauma; (2) the cause of Nick to commit a crime; and (3) how Nick struggles to achieve his goals. In writing this thesis, the author will use a qualitative method because the author uses film as the object of analysis. To find the problem formulation, there are two kinds of data that the author uses, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data are films and scripts. The approach and theory used in analyzing the problem is secondary data taken from e-books, books and websites, academic journals, and other sources to analyze the problems in this thesis. After analyzing the formulations of the problem, the writer finds out about Nick's life which traumatized him, and the reason he became a criminal. This film also discusses the struggle in achieving its goals. To analyze this film, the writer uses a psychological approach. In psychology, the author chooses the theory of trauma, stereotypes, criminology, and goals. By applying the approach and theory, it can be concluded that the trauma that Nick experienced was caused by an environment that had a negative impact on him. Because of the trauma Nick grows up to be a bad person and views the world badly. Because having someone who truly believes in him makes him have goals he wants to achieve with the help of his friends.
