Revealing the Factors behind Jim Morris Talent and Needs in pursuing his Dreams through his Second Chance in John Lee Hancock’s Film, The Rookie

Abstract

This research collaborates with the final student of the Pertiwi Foreign Language College Sunarti 120350995 when She was completing his final assignment  as a prerequisite for graduation from the English Literature program. The purpose of this study was to reveal the factors that they made Jim Morris succeed as that main character in the movie in order to dig his talent in the second chance to reach his dream as a professional baseball player. The power of talent is not enough he must fulfill the all of needs to gain the dream. The study used a qualitative method which focused on analyzing words or pictures rather than numbers or using

statistics to describe the main phenomena in meticulous work. In the qualitative method the main data is from the Rookie (2002) film itself.  The Rookie is a sport drama directed by John Lee Hancock and produced by Walt Disney Picture. The movie was based on the true story of Jim Morris who was the famous baseball player from Major League Baseball 1999-2000. The next source of data used in this research is to collect references, journals, articles by surfing in internet through various websites that are available completely, and can be downloaded for free.
